Project Giving Back & Book Thong Giveaway

I know, I had been slack about blogging in the past week. A pesky health issue reared its ugly head in earnest and caused me no small amount of discomfort and displeasure, so I thought I would take my surliness and hibernate until I was fit for pleasant company. (And if you’re wondering why am I writing talking writing in this convoluted manner … hibernation does that to a person, I swear. *wink*)

Ok, enough of that.

Let me tell you about Project Giving Back. This is my Christmas thing – Christmas being my absolute favourite time of the year – to help raise funds for charitable organizations. This year, I’m doing it for the SPCA, a non-profit, non-government funded outfit that’s very close to my heart. I’m contributing my book thongs towards their year-end bazaars, with 100% of the proceeds going to the SPCA. I’ve pledged 30, but aiming for 50.

These are some of the book thongs I’ve made for the SPCA … click on images for enlarged views

Would you like to win one? Think of it as a little Christmas gift from me to you. I don’t know how many people will want these, so I’m setting aside 5 for this giveaway. If more people want them, I’ll consider upping the number.

Just leave a comment to enter for the draw. Readers worldwide are welcome to participate. Closing date is 6 November 2008. Winners will be announced the following day.

See you all later.

Sorry to hear you've not been feeling well. Have you felt like reading at all?

Those book thongs are gorgeous. I love the bright colors. I already won one of your bookmarks earlier so I'm not going to be greedy and enter my name again. But I do want to give you my best wishes and enjoy the holiday season ahead. It is a very fun time of year.

Up here in North America I like the long nights at Christmas. It would be fun to experience it on your side of the world. Very different, I imagine.

I'm sorry to hear you've been under the weather. I hope things are looking up.

Yes, your book things are beautiful, I agree!

If you wouldn't mind placing my name in the drawing for one, I'd appreciate it!

I don't want to seem selfish, but your book thongs are gorgeous and I would love one! However, most importantly, you're doing such a wonderful thing! Bless you!

I hope you're feeling better now!

Thanks, everyone, for your lovely comments and enthusiastic response towards the book thongs. You've boosted my confidence regarding their saleability - hopefully the buyers will snap all of them up!

Healthwise, I'm feeling much better now. It has its moments - sometimes the pain's quite bad, but most times it's just pesky.

Phyl: You're absolutely NOT greedy if you want to enter for this draw! If Lady Luck wants to smile upon you once more, who are we to prevent her from doing so? *grin*

I read just one book in an entire week. LOL I'm just coming out of that dreadful slump so I'm reading really slowly right now.

Oh, how I would LOVE to experience a snowy Christmas! Yes, I'd imagine that you'd find Christmas in the tropics a very different experience. *grin* The weather, for one, will drive you nuts. LOL However, the important thing - the spirit of Christmas - is the same everywhere. *grin*

Hi Jace. I'm sending well wishes your way, and hope you feel better soon.

The bookmarks are sooo pretty, please do enter me in the drawing.

I love a white Christmas, though I haven't seen one in about three years. I'm ready to get back to seasons. I miss them.

What a lovely idea you're doing for the SPCA - and a wonderful charity.
I LOVE your book thongs so consider me entered. You wouldn't believe some of the odd things I've used in the past since to dog ear a page is a horror to me - as is leaving a book opened and face down.
And I hope your feeling more up to snuff soon. It's no fun when one is dragging

Well, if I'm not being greedy, please throw my name in.

And yes, I'd love to experience Christmas in the tropics. I HATE the cold. I'll be thinking of you this year!

Thanks, Jace.

Those are simply gorgeous! Borders use to sell something that "almost" looked like those. I remember always looking at them but too afraid to purchase them.

The book marker that I won from you oh a while back ago, it's currently residing in my scrap book. It's too awesome to use.

Hey, SPCA is a great organization! We have it here, too. I can barely think of a more worthwhile cause!

Okay, and I would love to be entered. How generous of you, and to be willing to send them around the world. I know you are probably ruled out of so many contests for where you live.

Here's hoping you feel 100% better soon, Jace.

Ladies, all your names will be entered for the draw. :-D Your wonderful response is indeed heartwarming. :-)

Brie: You hadn't celebrated Christmas in Georgia for 3 years?!

Kristie: I read an article by a librarian (or someone ... I can't remember) about the stuff that people used as bookmarks, which she found in books that were returned - some of those stuff were quite unbelievable. LOL

Raonaid: You are so good for my ego! LOL I'm thrilled to bits that you think my bookmarks are too nice to be used. :-D

CJ: Yes, indeed, I couldn't take part in a lot of contests because of where I live. That's one of the reasons why I don't take part in contests. The other reason is I have ABSOLUTELY no luck at all at winning anything. LOL

And because I KNOW what it's like to not be eligible to enter contests (due to where I live), all my contests and giveaways are open to everybody, worldwide. ;-)

No, I haven't. Whenever I go home it's in the summer and it is sweltering. I haven't seen fall, winter, or spring in three years. Only summer. :(

Oh, too cute! I'd love a shot at winning one, Jace.

Hope you're back to 100% and feeling much better!

Brie: I hope you'll be able to enjoy a white Christmas soon ... although "soon" has to wait till next year, hasn't it? :-(

Amy: I'll put your name in the draw. :-) And thanks ... I'm feeling pretty good lately. :-)
