Tagged!

I’ve been tagged by Brie for this diversion.

Grab hold of the book nearest to me, turn to page 123 and type out the 5th sentence. Ok, simple enough.

“That mysterious Waverley sensibility you and Evanelle have. Grandma had it too. Did Mom?”

This comes from Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen. I read it a couple of weeks ago, and still keep it nearby. I need to scribble down my commentary already, to share how much I’ve enjoyed this book. That’s coming up next, hopefully.

From left: UK edition, US edition
(aren't they gorgeous?)

They are very pretty covers. Every time I see the US version cover I want to grab the book. I just don't think I'll be interested in the story. But now I'm looking forward to your review to see if this is a book I might like.

This book is in my Wish List and I've been meaning to get it for a while, the covers are beautiful and the story seems like just my cup of tea. Can't wait to read your review!

Garden Spells' a lovely book, I liked it even though it's not what I normally read.

Brie, now that I know there are people waiting to read my take on it, I'm motivated to scribble it down. :) I haven't been in the writing mood lately...

Ana, welcome! So nice of you to drop by. :)

I read a blurb that said if you like Chocolat by Joanne Harris, you will like this book. I haven't read Chocolat but since I like this book a lot, I've got Chocolat on my wishlist now. LOL

Oh, I can't wait to read Allen's next book, The Sugar Queen. It's already out in hard cover and trade size, but they're too expensive ... I'm waiting for the p/back edition.

Hi Wendy, welcome to my blog. :)

This book isn't what I'd normally read, but I truly like it a lot. I think what I appreciate the most about it is the writing-style ... it's not easy to use such a spare style yet make the story touching and engaging. :)

Thanks, Jace! :)

I totally agree, the writing is what made it such a good book.

I loved Chocolat, another reason to try and buy this book soon! ;-)

Those covers are beautiful. I especially like the UK version. Looking forward to your thoughts... I had this in my hand in Target the other day and opted to put it down.

Ana, I'm trying to get Chocolat off BookMooch - there are many copies available. I hope one of the owners will send it to me. :)

Recently, the sequel to Chocolat was released - The Lollipop Shoes for UK; The Girl With No Shadow for US. Will you be getting it?

Hi, Christine. Ok, I'm officially under pressure to get the commentary done quickly. LOL

I'm curious about The Lollipop Shoes but I won't be buying it, if I can get it through BM or borrow it from a friend, fine. Chocolat had a satisfying ending, no need for a sequel IMO, and as I haven't enjoyed Joanne Harris' latest books I'm even afraid to pick it up.

Sometimes authors should just leave well alone. *grin*
